The Banque Martin Maurel is a French private bank headquartered in Marseille. It is present in France and Monaco.

Location

A historic bastide located at 540 Avenue du Prado in Marseille serves as its headquarters.[1] However, the main office is at 43, rue Grignan, also in Marseille.[2] It was branches in Aix-en-Provence, Lyon, Neuilly-sur-Seine and Paris, as well as a subsidiary in Monaco.[2][3]

History

The subsidiary in Monaco

The Banque Martin Maurel was established in 1964 as a result of a merger of Banque Martin Frères, founded in 1825, and Banque Maurel, founded in 1929 by Robert Maurel.[4][5] It is a subsidiary of its holding company, Compagnie Financière Martin Maurel Société Anonyme.[2][6]

In 2000, with the Italian bank Banca Sella Group, it co-founded the Martin Maurel Sella - Banque Privée Monaco.[4] As of 2011, it held 1.8 billion Euros in assets.[3]

It is a member of the Groupement Européen de Banques.[3][7]

Banque Martin Maurel has been bought by Rothschild & Co. in June 2016 for at €240 million. At the time it had €10 billion of assets under management in France, of which €7 billion for private banking. As a result, Rothschild would become a leading independent private bank in France, with combined AUM of c.€34 billion.
