Coolmath Games first went online in 1997.[1][2][3]
The site only hosts games that they believe are non-violent and educational.[2][4]
In November 2019, Popular Mechanics listed Coolmath Games as one of its "50 most important websites" since the internet was created.[5]
Rumours have surfaced that Coolmath Games would be shutting down as of February 2020 alongside Adobe Flash Player. Though these rumours surfaced somewhere unofficial, Coolmath Games has officially announced that the website would not be shutting down[2]. In a statement, they said:
"We've seen that rumor flying around recently, but there's no truth to it, we've been totally focused on HTML5 games for years now. We've also converted a large number of our older Flash games to HTML5, so people can keep playing them."
The majority of their online games have already been ported to HTML5 already and Coolmath Games are currently in the process of porting them all.[6]
