Cygilant, Inc, (originally named EiQ Networks, Inc.), is a Boston-based security software-as-a-service (SaaS) company focused on information security and compliance objectives.[1] EiQ Networks’ origins are in analysis of log files across web servers, file servers, firewalls and other network devices,[2] but moved into the security information and event management (SIEM) market.[3]

Company

EiQ Networks, Inc. was founded in 2001. EiQ Networks’ global headquarters are in Boston, Massachusetts, with additional in Hyderabad, India. EiQ Networks is a closely held private company. The company completed its first institutional round raising $10 million in January 2009 led by Venrock.[4] The company received an additional $2 million in September 2010[5] and also raised $750,000 in debt financing in June 2012.[6] Santa Monica-based Arrowroot Capital invested into EiQ Networks in 2014, and the Company has since experienced substantially higher growth rates driven by the ramp-up in the company's inside sales organization. [7] EiQ Networks was co-founded by Vijay Basani and Jay Reddy. In September 2017, the company announced that it has raised an additional $7 Million in funding and would rebrand as Cygilant, Inc. [8] Prior to founding EiQ Networks, Basani and Reddy co-founded WebManage Technologies, which was acquired by NetApp in 2000.[9]

Leadership

In 2019, Rob Scott, who was president of network security company Bradford Networks when it was acquired by Sunnyvale, California-based Fortinet in June 2018, took over the role of CEO of Cygilant from co-founder Vijay Basani.[10]

Scott has more than 30 years of experience in building high-value organizations and was recognized by Ernst & Young as its “Entrepreneur of the Year” in 2002. Previously, he served as CEO of Clique Intelligence (an HPE and DreamWorks funded company) and was CEO of Colubris Networks, guiding the company through its acquisition by Hewlett-Packard. Scott was also VP and worldwide general manager for Hewlett Packard’s energy and sustainability business unit, with full responsibility for the growth of the unit. He has served on the board of directors for numerous technology and financial services companies, including Avidbank, Hexadite (acquired by Microsoft), Hotshot Mobile and Trilio Data.

Scott started his career as a Formula 1 test car driver for the European Sports Car Le Mans, which inspired his passion for building high potential companies at a rapid pace. He also donates his time to service missions that help some of the neediest areas of the country.

Relationship with the security community

On Feb. 8th 2018 the company mocked and insulted several security researchers on Twitter. They also tweeted "Thanks for the free marketing, kids! #HowYouDoMarketing". Later the tweets were deleted and the company apologized.[11]
