Fractal Design is a computer hardware manufacturer from Sweden. Founded in 2007, the company manufactures computer cases, water coolers, case fans, and power supplies. All products are designed and engineered in Sweden.[1]

In recent years the company's products have won several awards in computer hardware industry such as the Case Manufacturer of the Year (2013–2015), European Hardware Awards (2015)[2] and Brand of the year IXBT.com (2015), Russia.[3]

The company headquarters of Fractal Design is located in Gothenburg, Sweden, where the products are designed. Fractal Design manufactures all their products in China. To support its international operations, Fractal Design has offices in Europe, North America and Asia.

History

Fractal Design was founded in Gothenburg, Sweden, in 2007. In 2009, international recognition for the company grew after the first computer case within the Define series was introduced. In the same year, the company opened a North America office in Dallas, Texas.[4] A few months later, an Asia office was established to handle increased Product Development and Sales.

By the end of 2016, the company continued to develop the concepts of Scandinavian design, silent computing and support of powerful computer configurations by launching new computer cases under the Define series.[5]

In 2020, Fractal products are available in more than 50 countries. Fractal remains one of the world's premier brands when it comes to designing and manufacturing cases, fans, power supplies and accessories for gaming- and hardware enthusiasts with high expectations.

"XL"-versions "Quiet PC" cases, featuring sound-dampening material on the inside of the front and side panels.

In other respects, revisions 2 through 5 are similar to the Arc series, apart from lacking top filters.

  • Revision 6 features a full-length PSU shroud, top filters, and a new HDD/SSD cradle design.
  • Revision 7 features a new ventilation grate pattern, and a third intake fan mount in the 5.25" bay.
  • Revision 7 is marketed as the "Define 7", whereas previous revisions would be called "R5", "R6", etc.

"Budget" cases of rudimentary construction that maintain some HDD/SSD mounting flexibility, and support for all-in-one liquid cooling solutions.
  • x000, x100, and x300 designs use a vertical HDD/SSD mounting plate for improved airflow.
  • x500 models use "traditional" horizontal HDD/SSD mounts inside moveable "cages".
  • With exception of the "500" and "1000" models, the series suffers from poor intake airflow, a problem common amongst cases with solid front panels.

Focus 2

"Budget" cases that offer features from other Fractal cases but with a lower price, and slightly cheaper build quality.

The newest Focus 2 has a fully mesh front, similar to other Fractal cases, allowing for more airflow compared to its predecessor, the Focus G.

Vector 2019 Vector RS Mid-range case that features an ARGB strip that wraps around from the front to the top, and an angled design, with a similar interior to the Define R6.
Era 2020 Era ITX High-end SFF case that comes in 5 different finishes. The Era ITX received poor reviews due to poor airflow on glass/wood top models, and tight form-factor making it hard to install larger pieces of hardware.
Torrent 2021 Torrent Nano Torrent Compact Torrent Enthusiast cases with a minimally restricted front-to-back airflow layout, featuring 18 cm intake fans.
