MyPass Global [1] is a cloud-based technology that empowers workers to manage training and competency information in a digital Skills Passport.[2] The Australian-born company simplifies the compliance management process for over 800 industry leaders in highly regulated industries, by providing real time and verified worker data. Organisations can source and mobilise skilled workers to increase safety in work environments and prevent compliance gaps.[3]
The platform provides workforce compliance management for the energy, mining and manufacturing industries, as well as volunteering, health, aged and disability care sectors.[4][5][6][7][8]
History
MyPass was developed in 2015 in Perth, Australia by Matthew Smith, to empower the workforce to own and control their competency information and streamline compliance management.[9] Smith has a background as a mechanical Engineer and commenced his career in the field as a coordinator of contractor groups before moving into Oil & Gas construction and working for Shell.[10]
Prior to founding the company, Smith built strong relationships with highly skilled tradespeople. Through these experiences, Smith developed a profound appreciation for what it takes to deliver a project on time, on budget and to a high standard. In 2007, Smith was appointed to manage maintenance service crews across Western Australia for a range of clients including BHP, Rio Tinto, ConocoPhillips and Newcrest Mining. The role required the deployment of fifty to five hundred workers to sites each week, where Smith was responsible for the output and safety performance of workers. The respective problems and challenges motivated Smith to develop MyPass in 2015.[11]
In 2022 MyPass was awarded with a contract by BHP, that is using MyPass to handle contractor onboarding, mobilisation and management. Australia's Nickel West operations and Chile's Spence Mine have adopted the technology, which will be followed by a global rollout across the 2023 to 2025 financial years.[12][13]
In 2022 MyPass also integrated with Cru Software to translate complex business requirements into simplified workflows and user interfaces.[14]

MyPass has been recognised by a number of institutions.
2019
In 2019, MyPass was the Energy Resources Award Winner in the Australian Technologies Competition.[15]
2020
In 2020, MyPass won the NERA Innovation Award and was a Category Winner for the Australian Financial Review's Most Innovative Companies.[16][17]
2021
In 2021, MyPass was a People's Choice Finalist for the Innovation Aus 2021 Awards For Excellence, was a Growth Finalist in the Western Australia Innovator Of The Year Awards, was the winner of the Process Innovation Award 2021 in the Australian Business Awards and the CEO, Matthew Smith, was announced as one of the Top 50 Small Business Leaders by Inside Small Business.[18][19][20][21]
2023
In 2023, MyPass won a CORE Innovation Hot 30 Award for its industry first Skills Passport Technology.[22]
