The National Digital library of India (NDLI) is a project under Ministry of Human Resource Development, India . The objective is to integrate several national and international digital libraries in one single web-portal. The NDLI provides free of cost access to many books in English and the Indian languages.
Launch and growth
The Library was launched in pilot form in May 2016.[1][2] (As of 2017), NDL hosts 7,203,195 items in its repository, with over 150,000 volumes in English.
Languages
The scanning of Indian language books has created an opportunity for developing Indian language optical character recognition (OCR) software. Books in Urdu and Persian are also available at the NDL. Examples include " Aligarh kee taaleemi tehreek" by Khwaja Ghulamus Sayyedain and Makateeb-e-Sanai by Professor Nazir Ahmad.
Access and restrictions
User registration is open to users from around the world. However, contents from some popular sources are only accessible to registered users. Some of these registration-only works are from sources such as:

Delivery formats
Access can also be had via mobile app, available for Android at Google Play.[3]
