Orient Electric Limited (OEL) (BSE: 541301) is part of the diversified Indian conglomerate CK Birla Group. It is one of the leading consumer electrical brands in India with a diverse portfolio of fans, lighting, home appliances and switchgears. It was formerly a division of the Orient Paper & Industries (BSE: 502420), which itself is a subsidiary of the $1.8 billion CK Birla Group. The Scheme of Arrangement between Orient Paper & Industries Limited and Orient Electric Limited and their respective shareholders and creditors was sanctioned by National Company Law Tribunal, Kolkata Bench on 9 November 2017. The company got listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) & National Stock Exchange (NSE) on 14 May 2018.
Orient Electric Limited has fully integrated manufacturing facilities based in Kolkata, Faridabad, Noida and Guwahati. It is largest manufacturer and exporter of fans from India with a dominating presence in over 35 international markets. In the domestic market, it has deep and well-organised distribution network driven by over 4000 dealers, 1,00,000 retail outlets and a strong service network covering more than 320 cities. It is also the first Indian lighting brand to receive BEE star rating for its LED bulbs.[5]
Orient Electric has received many prestigious awards and accolades to date for its commitment to manufacture quality lifestyle electrical solutions that benchmark against the best in the industry. It has received “The Economic Times Promising Brand" award for the year 2018. OEL’s Fans business has been conferred with the Superbrand status for 2017. It retained the prestigious status for the second time after getting it earlier for the year 2014-15. Orient Electric Limited, as a unified brand operating across four business verticals, has also been conferred with the ‘Business Superbrand’ status for 2016. The Fans category of OEL is rated as "Star Export House" by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, (Government of India) and has been consistently awarded "Star Performer" for many years by the Engineering Exports Promotion Council (EEPC).
