Temi is a video-oriented autonomous, personal home robot known for its capability in recognizing and following its users around.[1][2]

History

Temi was developed in 2016 by its company which also goes by the same name. The Temi company has its headquarters located in Tel Aviv, Israel with marketing and sale outlet in Manhattan, NY, USA. The company also has its Production, Manufacturing, Operations location in Shenzhen, China .[3]

In 2017, Temi raised 50 million USD in series C funding and launched its website in USA and China in August 2017.[3]

In October 2017, Temi launched its early adopter program offering 1000 applicants to receive Temi robot for free for a week in order to provide feedback.[4] In November 2017, the first batch of early adopters received their Temi units.[4] The Android-based operating system for Temi was designed and build by the software house Netguru.[5]

Since January 2018, the Temi robot became ready for mass production.[4] Between February and March 2018, Temi participated in events and provided live demos.The company also signed deal to distribute 30,000 units of Temi in China.[3]

Yossi Wolf

Yossi Wolf, (born June 2 1980), is the CEO and founder of Temi the personal robot.[6][7] Yossi Wolf was born in Israel and served as a Captain and Company Commander in the Israeli Air Force . Yossi studied physics and philosophy at Tel-Aviv University. Yossi Wolf started working at ODF Optronics in early 2003. By 2007, he was appointed Vice President of the ODF Optroinics' Robotics Division.[8]

In 2009, Wolf began the foundation of Roboteam with the company's founding partner, Elad Levi.[9] The two placed all of their personal savings together and invested in jump-starting the Roboteam defense company. With team effort in mind, they named it 'Roboteam' and began operating from a small office-apartment in Tel-Aviv, Israel.[10]

In 2016, Wolf founded Temi the personal robot and secured a $50M investment to revolutionize the world of home robotics.[11][12] He currently holds up to 15 Patents.[13]

Services

The Temi robot recognizes and follows its user around. It remembers preset locations and navigates around the user's home and office, making video calls hands free and using the smart tray to charge the user's devices wirelessly.[14] Temi is based on an open android platform which allows developers to create apps and skills.[15] The personal robot comes with basic features such as reporting the weather, playing music, taking photos and more.[16]
