Wandera is a privately held company that develops unified cloud security solutions[buzzword] for corporations with mobile workforces.

The SaaS security vendor provides unified cloud security for businesses through its Wandera Security Cloud, helping protect corporate data, applications, users and devices.[2]

The company offers a secure layer in the network that customers can route data through, and a corresponding app that gets installed on end-user devices.

Wandera's solution[buzzword] can be deployed in any environment—COPE, COBO or BYOD.

Wandera is powered by its threat intelligence engine, MI:RIAM, to uncover and block new threats in real time before they exploit vulnerable devices.[3]

In 2018, Wandera announced a partnership with IBM Security in which IBM would sell Wandera as a complementary and integrated solution[buzzword] alongside IBM MaaS 360.[4]

Wandera has similar integrations with other leading EMM solutions[buzzword] including Microsoft Intune,[5] MobileIron[6] and VMware Workspace One (formerly AirWatch).[3]

Wandera was co-founded in 2012 by brothers Eldar and Roy Tuvey, who formerly co-founded ScanSafe, which was acquired by Cisco in 2009.[7] Wandera has offices in London, England, San Francisco , California and Brno, Czech Republic.

Backed by Bessemer Venture Partners and 83North Venture Capital, the company raised $27.5 million in Series C funding led by Sapphire Ventures in May 2017,[8] bringing total funding to $53.5 million.[9]

Research

In 2019, Google removed seven apps from the Google Play Store after Wandera researchers discovered that these apps contained dropper malware.[10]

In 2019, Apple Inc. removed 17 apps from its App Store after Wandera researchers discovered that these apps were infected with trojan malware.[11]

In 2019, Wandera researchers discovered that the e-ticketing systems used by many major airlines send check-in links that are unencrypted to passengers, putting passengers' personally identifiable data at risk of being accessed and modified by hackers.[12]

In 2019, Wandera researchers found more than a dozen iPhone apps covertly communicating with a C&C server associated with Golduck, an Android-focused malware that infects popular classic game apps.[13]

In 2018 Wandera discovered a new family of mobile malware called RedDrop that exfiltrates victims’ sensitive data including ambient audio recordings and sends it to cloud storage services.[14]

In 2017, Wandera discovered the resurgence of ransomware SLocker, identifying over 400 new SLocker variants that featured small changes, which allowed them to pass undetected by most mobile security apps.[15]

Recognition

In October 2019, Wandera was included as a representative vendor in the Gartner Market Guide for Mobile Threat Defense.[16]

In December 2018, Wandera was named a Leader in the IDC Marketspace: Worldwide Mobile Threat Management Software 2018-2019 Vendor Assessment.[17]

In 2017, Wandera was awarded Best Mobile Security Solution at the SC Awards Europe.[18]

In 2013, Wandera was nominated for the Redherring Europe Top 100 Awards.[19]

In April 2014, Wandera was named a “Cool Vendor in Enterprise Mobility, 2014″ by Gartner.[20]
