Zionex (Korean: 자이오넥스) is a supply chain management (SCM) solutions and services company founded in 2000. The company provides supply chain planning (SCP) and advanced planning and scheduling (APS) solutions to manufacturing and distribution companies, mainly in Asia. Zionex is headquartered in Seoul (Korea), with offices in Tokyo (Japan) and Taipei (Taiwan).
Background
Zionex was founded by three doctoral students from MIT, Dongsik Yoo, Hun Wook Lim, and Francis Gundong Pahng on January 17, 2000. Zionex received angel funding from Mr. Yoshito Hori, Chairman and CEO at Globis Group and Globis University Graduate School of Management in Japan. Mr. Hori advised Zionex's marketing strategy be modeled after BoA, a Korean pop singer who had a commercial success in Japan.[1]
Products
Zionex's software product suite,T3Series, provides global supply chain planning and production scheduling algorithms to improve resource utilization and on-time delivery performance of manufacturing and distribution companies.[2] T3Series serves both discrete and process industries, including electronics, metals, chemicals, consumer packaged goods, and distribution.
Joint Venture in Japan
On October 10, 2007, Comtec (Japan) and Zionex started a joint venture company called Comnext, Inc.[3] Comnext provided production scheduling solutions and open-source based enterprise applications to its clients in Japan.
In 2013, Comtec decided to withdraw from the joint venture and therefore sold the remaining shares of Comnext to Zionex. Comnext has been renamed to Zionex Japan (ザイオネックス株式会社).
