The Great Oolite is a geological formation in Europe. It dates back to the Middle Jurassic.[1]

This Limestone is dominant in many areas of the UK particularly in Birmingham and Anglesy. It is composed of oolites and lithic fragments. Its origins are in extremely deep cold marine conditions of the arctic, and it is a mystery how it eventually came to rest in Birmingham and Anglesy.
