Engineering:CASM Overseer

From HandWiki

The CASM Overseer (Xun-Cha-Zhe or Xunchazhe, 巡察者) are a series of Chinese UAVs developed by the Chinese Academy of Surveying and Mapping (CASM,中国测绘科学研究院 ),[1] many of which have entered service with Chinese law enforcement and governmental establishments.

Overseer UAVRS-10

Overseer UAVRS-10 is a fixed wing UAV developed by CASM mainly as an aerial photography, survey and remote sensing platform, and it has been deployed in Qinghai.[2] To fulfill its missions, UAVRS-10 is specially equipped with Matrix surveying system processing software developed by Wuhan.[3][4]

Overseer UAVRS-20

Overseer UAVRS-20 is a fixed wing UAV developed by CASM for various mission. UAVRS-20 is in conventional layout with high wing configuration with tricycle landing gear. Propulsion is provided by a two-blade driven tractor engine mounted in the nose.[5] Overseer UAVRS-20 made its public debut in June 2010 in Beijing during the UAV exhibition held at Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution, and it has been deployed in the post disaster assessment missions in 2008 Sichuan earthquake.[6]

Specification:[7]

  • Payload (kg): 18
  • Endurance (hr): 3
  • Typical operational radius (km): 40

Overseer UAVRS-I

Overseer UAVRS-I (UAVRS-1) is a fixed wing UAV mainly intended for aerial photography and survey missions. UAVRS-I is developed mainly as a maritime surveillance UAV, with special consideration incorporated in the design for resistance to salinity and high humidity. Navigation is provided by GPS, and payload consists of electro-optical turret.[8]

Overseer UAVRS-II

Overseer UAVRS-II is the successor of earlier Overseer UAVRS-I, and has the identical twin boom layout with a pair of skids as landing gear. Propulsion is provided by a two-blade driven pusher engine mounted at the rearend of the fuselage. Specification:[9][10]

  • Wingspan (m): 2.8
  • Length (m):3.6
  • Max take-off weight (kg): 50
  • Payload (kg): > 8
  • Endurance (hr): 3 – 4
  • Remote control radius (km): 50
  • Speed (km): 70 – 160
  • Recovery: glide or parachute
  • Max wind scale allowed for operation: 4

Overseer UAVRS-F

Overseer UAVRS-F is a family of unmanned blimps of varying sizes, mainly intended for aerial survey and photography use. Unmanned blimps can hover at fixed position in the air like helicopters, blimps can perform do so at a much lower cost than unmanned helicopters.

Specification:[9]

  • Length (m): 12 – 20
  • Diameter (m): 2 – 4
  • Payload (kg): 5 – 50
  • Ceiling (km): 3
  • Remote control radius (km): 20
  • Speed (km): 0 – 70
