Overview
The mid/large SUV NIO ES7 was unveiled in China on 15 June 2022 via an online reveal.[1] NIO ES7 inherits the second-generation e-drive platform with the SiC power module.[2] The ES7 has two electric motors, one PM of 180kW in the front and 300kW induction motor at rear of the car.[3]
With a 75 kWh battery, the ES7 starts from RMB 468,000 before subsidies. With a 100 kWh battery, the price is RMB 526,000 before subsidies. For the ES7 Premier Edition, the price is RMB 548,000 before subsidies. With BaaS, the pre-subsidy price starts from RMB 398,000.[4] User delivery is expected to start on August 28, 2022. [5]
Specifications
The ES7 has 480 kW maximum power output and 850 Nm peak torque.[6][7] The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration is within 3.9 seconds when in Sport+ mode.[8][9] ES7 has ten driving modes including five scenario modes such as sand or snow. Like the ET7, ES7 makes use of karuun® sustainable rattan. As ET5, the ES7 has PanoCinema, the AR/VR compatible digital cockpit system.[10] Designed to meet five-star safety ratings of C-NCAP and Euro NCAP, the ES7 has hybrid body with the high-strength 7000 series aluminium alloy and carbon fibre.[11]
Battery specifications
The NIO ES7 comes available with three battery options: ES7's CLTC range reaches 485 km with the 75 kWh Standard Range Battery, 620 km with the 100 kWh Long Range Battery, and over 930 km with the 150 kWh Ultralong Range Battery.[12][13]
Smart driving system
ES7 marks the debut of the NIO Digital System for Evolving Smart Technology.[14] It includes smart hardware, computing platform, operating system, smart algorithms, and smart applications. Named after a family of trees, Banyan is the smart operating system on the NT2 platform.[15] The autonomous driving system in the NIO ES7 is called Aquila, which uses 33 sensors, seven 8MP high-resolution cameras, four 3MP light-sensitive cameras, and one ADMS (Advanced Driver Monitoring System), five millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, GPS, IMU, and V2X. [16]
Towing
ES7 is one of the first certified passenger vehicles in China to be able to tow a caravan or a trailer. The optional electric tow bar has a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 kg.[17] In addition, ES7 can supply power to towed equipment. In outdoor scenarios, it can support the Camping Mode and V2L discharging.[18]
