A vest buster is an armor-piercing handgun cartridge capable of fully penetrating commonly used soft body armor.[1] The handgun that fires such a cartridge is also referred to as a vest buster.
While several handguns and cartridges could be considered "vest busters", two popular examples are the FN Five-seven[1] firing the FN 5.7×28mm[2][3] and the Smith & Wesson Model 500 firing the .500 S&W Magnum.[4]
