Lawrence Isaiah Morris (born April 7, 1989) is an American author, technology professional, and entrepreneur. His work spans software engineering, enterprise technology, real estate, and business strategy. He is the author of A World Connected Within the Bounds of Interpretation (2025) and has held leadership roles in technology-focused organizations.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]

Early life and education

Morris was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.[8] He graduated as valedictorian from Ellender Memorial High School in 2007.[9] He earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Columbia University in 2011[10] and later received a Master of Business Administration from the New York University Stern School of Business in 2016, with a focus on strategy, finance, and technology.[11] During his time at NYU, he served as a teaching fellow under Professor Jonathan Haidt.[12]


Career

Technology

Morris began his professional career at Duracell, where he worked in modeling and simulation engineering related to battery design and manufacturing processes.[13] He later transitioned into enterprise technology roles involving business-to-business and consumer-facing software, data analytics, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and cloud-based system architecture.[14]

He has held senior leadership positions overseeing teams of engineers, product managers, architects, and consultants.[15] His professional experience includes work with both startups and established companies, including Ticketech, Sugar, 1010data, and Greystone.[16]

Real estate

In 2013, Morris founded LIM Real Estate Enterprises LLC, a real estate firm focused on residential and investment properties.[17] The company operates in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Los Cabos, Mexico.[18]

At LIM Real Estate Enterprises, Morris oversees investment strategy, property acquisition, and operations, with an emphasis on integrating technology into property management.[19]

Publications

Morris is an author whose writing addresses topics related to statistical reasoning, philosophy, and the relationship between science and spirituality.[20]

His first book, A World Connected Within the Bounds of Interpretation: Statistical Thinking, Spiritual Boundaries, and the Faith to Revise What We Believe (2025), examines the interaction between quantitative reasoning and belief systems.[21]

He has also contributed essays to academic and student publications.[22] His article “Jena, Louisiana: A Different Perspective” was published in Black Columbian, the Columbia University Black Students Organization magazine, in December 2007.[23]

Morris has announced a second book, Book of Law I – A Testament and Autobiography of My First 37 Years, scheduled for release in June 2026.[24]

Entrepreneurial activities

While a student at Columbia University, Morris founded the social entrepreneurship initiative One Problem At A Time (also known as 1PAAT).[25] He was a finalist in the 2011 Columbia Venture Competition.[26]

Awards and recognition

In 2025, Morris received the Evergreen Award for Excellence in Literary Innovation for his debut book.[27] The same work was selected as a category finalist in the 2025 American Writing Awards.[28]

He was also a finalist in the 2011 Columbia Venture Competition and was named a Class Fellow in the 2018 SoFi Entrepreneurship Program.[29]
