Nordic Innovation is an institution that works to promote cross-border trade and innovation between the Nordic countries. Among the institution's goals are removng barriers and building relations through Nordic cooperation. Nordic Innovation works under the auspices of the Nordic Council of Ministers, and is located in Oslo. The institution is seen as a key player in implementing the Nordic trade, industry and innovation partnership programme.[1]

Nordic Innovation has an ambition to establish the Nordic countries as a world-leading region for innovation and sustainable growth. Nordic Innovation works with both private and public stakeholders, and has projects and partners in all the Nordic countries.

History

Nordic Innovation has existed for more than 40 years. It was first launched under the name The Nordic Industrial Fund on 1 July 1973, to promote technological and industrial development in the Nordic countries. The organisation was administrated by the Nordic Council of Ministers, and was located in Stockholm.

The organisation moved to Oslo in 1986, and was merged with Nordtest to become Nordic Innovation Centre in 2004. Seven years later, in 2011, the final name change was made, making it only Nordic Innovation.
