Web Coherence is a community of Internet users that aims to study Internet through experiments and observations and publish Internet best practices to its audience.

Web Coherence was established by Professor Ian Angell and his students at the London School of Economics in March 2009.

Overview

The purpose of Web Coherence is to improve user interaction with the Internet by studying various phenomenon and publishing Internet usage best practices, articles, and user stories to its members. Web Coherence supports its members in carrying out experiments, in the expectation their participation will lead to a better understanding by the e-community of its relationship with the Internet. They also promote student and researcher activities by providing them the platform and necessary infrastructure to carry out their experiments. Their findings are published to the general web audience and suggests Internet usage best practices.

The organisation follows a strict code of conduct and does not involve in malicious activities such as hacking on the Internet. All experiments carried out undergo strict supervision before being tried out. It do not disclose the identity of its members unless permission has been explicitly obtained from its members.

Membership

Web Coherence members are IT professionals, professors, researchers, students and general Internet users.

Contributing members of Web Coherence specialise in various subjects including information systems, technology, legal policies and procedures, security, management, decision sciences and web programming.

Public awareness

Web Coherence explains Internet phenomena and its potential impact through an active public relations program and a website, which includes user stories, case studies, articles and best practices.
