Junub (جنب) is an Islamic term meaning ritually impure due to sexual intercourse or seminal discharge. A person in such a state needs to take a ghusl and ablution mentioned in Hadees and authentic Islamic Shari'ah in order to become ritually pure and be able to perform his prayers.[1]
Prohibited actions
- A person is forbidden from offering salat.
- Some Muslims believe that they must perform a ritual cleansing with water (Wudu or Ghusl) before touching a copy of the Quran, although this view is not universal.[2]
- Women are exempt from fasting during their monthly cycle. [citation needed]
