Shalgram (Sanskrit: शालग्राम) also known as Salgram is a sacred place in the tradition of Vaishnava sec in Hinduism. It is located at a bank of the Gandaki River in Nepal.[1][2][3][4]
Description
Shalgram is known for the sacred Shaligram stone in Hinduism. There is a temple of Lord Vishnu where Shaligram form of Lord Vishnu is worshipped.[3] It is said that the name of the sacred black stone Shaligram is derived from the name of this place Shalgram.
In Padma Purana, Lord Krishna told Lord Shiva in a dialogue that he always resides in the sacred stone produced at Shalgram.[5]
