Social:Game Global
Game Global is a website which claims to "help men better themselves and their dating lives". It was founded in 2018. It has been used and promoted by pick-up artists, and includes numerous accounts of male users boasting about rape and sexual assault (sometimes after drugging their victim) of women by 'gaming' them into sex or sexual activity with them.[1][2] Its members consider themselves single gamers with low self-esteem, with many suffering from social anxiety, or pornography addiction.[1]
Founders
It was founded by children's author Kieren Brown (under the alias Ciaran Callam) and his business partners, Joe Elvin, (who starred in a Channel 4 dating series, A Year to Fall in Love) and Alex 'Ice' White in 2018.[1]
Brown studied at Portsmouth University and has previously worked for Cancer Research UK, Disney, Peroni and Samsung. In October 2006, he blogged for the BBC. He has also written the book Preeta's Web of Chaos, and is founder of the "Web of Chaos Movement", which aims to empower young readers, particularly those from ethnic minorities.[1][2][3]
Analysis and response
Game Global has said it is against rape and bans members who describe violence against women, saying such posts were "probably meant as a joke" and went against the ethos of its community.[1][2]
Researchers identified 500 Game Global groups on social media with more than 26,000 members globally, mainly on Facebook and Telegram.[1][2]
