Auslogics Duplicate File Finder is a software application intended to scan a user's computer for duplicate files, display a list of such files and let the user delete unneeded copies with the purpose of freeing up hard drive space. The application works on computers that run the Microsoft Windows operating system. The program's version 2 (the latest as of the writing of this article in February 2012) supports Windows XP, Vista and 7. It is distributed as freeware, and is available in multiple languages. The program is bundled with adware.

The program is published by Auslogics Software Pty Ltd, an Australian-based company that specializes in maintenance software for computers that run the Microsoft Windows operating system. Started in 2008, the company gained recognition for its two most highly rated products – Auslogics BoostSpeed and Auslogics Disk Defrag. In 2009 the company partnered with Sony Vaio to develop part of the Sony Vaio Care software installed on the Vaio laptops and desktop PC’s. As of 2011, Auslogics has the Premier Elite Partner status in the Intel Software Partner Program.

Independent tests

Auslogics Duplicate File Finder has been tested and reviewed by major software distributing and reviewing websites. Both CNet's Download.com and Softpedia.com gave the program a 4-star rating citing lack of a help file as the application's main drawback, but praising the program's fast and thorough scans, simple interface and backup options.[1][2] The software also received a 4.5-star rating and a mostly positive review from downloadcrew.com,[3] which mentioned inconvenient separation of duplicates groups in the scan results as a drawback, but praised the ease of use, the good filtering criteria and emphasis on MD5 search engine as the program's strongest points. The program has also been reviewed and recommended by lifehacker.com,[4] Beta News,[5]
