The Hive is only available to play on Minecraft: Bedrock Edition and was formerly available on Java Edition. It is currently one of the largest Minecraft servers to date.

The Hive's popularity on the Java Edition of Minecraft rapidly declined after its peak years until its Java Edition server closed its doors in April 15, 2021[1] while the Bedrock Edition counterpart averaged 50,000+ concurrent players.[2]

Features

The server's features are its various minigames as well as its maps. You can also play The Hive with your friends or anyone using the Friend & Party system.

History

The Hive was founded by Youri Kersten, Ed Barlow, Matt AjaX on February 24, 2013. They are famously known in Minecraft as "ClankStar", "edb0xx3r" and "JollyajaX". ClankStar and Vareide (A former founder of The Hive) created Trouble in Mineville and JollyajaX and Ed Barlow then created The Herobrine, those games were then introduced to The Hive on its launch.

In the partnership with Mojang Studios, The Hive launched its Minecraft: Bedrock Edition server which was launched on October 16, 2018. Due to the decreasing player base and resources on the Java Edition version of The Hive, The Hive: Java Edition closed its doors in April 15, 2021.

As of 2021, the Bedrock server of The Hive regularly reaches 50,000 concurrent players, peaking over at 61,000 on February 13. The Hive has 30+ million total unique players and attracts 7+ million players every month.
