Short description: 2016 social casino game

POP! Slots is a free-to-play social casino game that uses virtual chips to create digital versions of MGM-branded casino floors but does not offer real-money like the traditional gambling. Players can compete in real-time by joining group challenges or participate in tournaments with up to 31 other players.[1][2]

History

POP! Slots was jointly developed by Playstudios and Scene53, an Israel based game studio and released worldwide on 16 July 2016. Following the success of the game, Playstudios acquired Scene53 rebranding it as Playstudios Israel (PSI) to advance POP! Slots products.[3][4] The game initially featured virtual versions of Excalibur, MGM Grand and The Mirage before introducing real-time avatar-based mode where players could compete in group play, interact on virtual casino floors, and share jackpots.[5]

Gameplay

In the game, Players navigate the virtual Las Vegas Strip entering digitally recreated resorts such as Aria, MGM Grand and Bellagio and sitting at tables shared with other player’s avatars.[6][7] Every player at the table can see other players’ wins and bonuses are shared among them.[8]

Players bet by adjusting wagers based on their available chips then spin to rotate the reels which brings balloons floating across the screen. Players earn rewards including EX (experience points), Loyalty Points and chips by tapping and popping the floating balloons. Earning more EX increases player level which unlocks new casinos and higher slot machines.[9][10] Earned gold loyalty points can be used to claim real-world rewards such as show tickets and cruise deals, complementary hotel stays in Las Vegas and buffets dining discounts.[2]

Players can compete in the World Tournament of Slots (WTOS) – a $1 million real-world slot competition hosted in partnership with The Atlantis in the Bahamas.[11][12]
