Short description: Mobile application

Puck App is a mobile application that allows hockey players to quickly find and rent a hockey goalie. Founded in 2015 in Toronto, Puck operates throughout Canada.[1]

History

Puck App was founded in 2016 by Niki Sawni.[2] Users can rate the goalies, message with available goalies, and coordinate skill levels.[3] In 2017, Puck App expanded to Western Canada and has over 1,000 goalies registered.[4] In 2018, Puck App charged approximately $40 CDN to rent a goalie with more than 2 hours notice.[5]

Puck App is a competitor to GoalieUp app. GoalieUp provides a similar paid service allowing teams to find hockey goalies. As of Jan 2024, rates vary to rent a goalie from approximately $40-60 CDN per goalie per game depending on the length of rental.[6]

Furthermore, another competitor app Subsneeded also provides an alternative free service[7] to teams looking to book last minute hockey goalies as call-ups.
