Qustodio is a parental control application[1] built by Qustodio Technologies[2] for families who want to protect their children’s online activity remotely on digital devices[3], including Chromebooks[4] desktops[5], laptops[6], smartphones[7] and tablets[8]. The Qustodio app works on Android, Apple iOS, Chrome OS (on Chromebooks), Amazon Fire OS (Kindle)[9], Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows[10], and is available in 8 languages[11]: English, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, German, Chinese and Japanese.


Features

Current Qustodio parental control features allow complete remote parenting of child devices across multiple devices[12] and operating systems[13] through an online parent dashboard. Qustodio features include:

  • Game and app blocking[14]
  • Time limits, quotas and downtimes[15]
  • Website and content category filtering[16]
  • Safe search[17]
  • Activity reporting: real-time, daily, weekly and monthly summaries[18]
  • Activity alerts and panic button[19]
  • Geolocation (Family Locator)[20] and geofencing (Your Places)[21]
  • SMS & Call monitoring[22]
  • YouTube monitoring[23]
  • Facebook monitoring[24]


History

In 2012, Qustodio Technologies launched the first version of the Qustodio parental control app for Windows PC[25]. In 2013, the company added support for iOS iPhone, and iPad. In 2014, the company also added support for Android and Mac and added new features including location monitoring, app controls, SMS and call monitoring, and incognito mode detection. In 2015, Qustodio Technologies launched a professional offering[26] of Qustodio software for schools and organizations. In 2019, Qustodio Technologies added two new features to the app: YouTube Monitoring and Family Locator (geolocation). In 2020, the company expanded the geolocation feature to include Your Places, a geofencing option. In 2021, Qustodio Technologies added Chromebooks[27] to the list of devices the Qustodio app is able to protect.
