Wavebox is a web browser developed by Bookry Ltd based on the Chromium web browser. It belongs to a set of new web browsers focused on cloud workflows and has tools to organize web apps into a unified hub[2]. It is available for macOS, Microsoft Windows and Linux. Bookry Ltd, who develops Wavebox is based in Bangor, Gwynedd, UK.
History
Wavebox started as an free open-source Electron wrapper for Gmail and Google Inbox called WMail. It was created by Thomas Beverley and the WMail Github repository saw the first commit in 2016[3].
In March 2017, WMail was relaunched as Wavebox by the original creator [4][5][6]. The initial release of Wavebox was open-source and hosted on Github GitHub - wavebox/waveboxapp: Wavebox Classic has been updated to Wavebox 10. Learn more Wavebox.io. At first launch, Wavebox included a subscription tier with additional features such as support for Outlook, Office 365, Slack & Trello[6].
Wavebox continued to expand its set of supported apps [7][8] and added support for a subset of Chrome Extensions [9].
Until November 2019, Wavebox ran on Electron, however the developers moved to a fork of Chromium citing security and maintenance burden [10]. Upon moving to Chromium, Wavebox required users to manually migrate, changed to a proprietary license and was rebranded as Wavebox 10, with the original version becoming Wavebox Classic [11][12]. Since moving to Chromium, Wavebox claims to be able to maintain release parity with Google Chrome [13].

User interface
Features of Wavebox are the persistent sidebar, where users are able to add web apps that are able to present notifications and show badges when there is new activity. Individual apps in Wavebox are able to sleep and save resources after a certain amount of time or when resources requirements on the machine demand [14].
Cookie Containers
Wavebox has Cookie containers, that are similar to Firefox containers, allowing multiple sign-ins within the same browser session [15].
