TappyToon is a webtoon portal that offers translated webtoons in English. It is one of only two webtoon portals that offers licensed titles in English alongside Spottoon.
History
Contents First launched the service in 2016 with an app for Android after receiving funding from BonAngels, a Korean early-stage investor. Since its launch, the service has seen huge success with more than 100,000 downloads just nine months after the service first premiered. The success has been credited in part to the popularity of Korean manhwa and webtoons that had already existed and the pay model that TappyToon offered.
In 2017, TappyToon launched an app for iOS and saw even more success that year. The userbase had seen an increase in 2000% for that year alone in North America and had generated a lot of revenue for the company.[1][2]
Kickstarter campaign
The success and popularity of TappyToon led to them launching a Kickstarter campaign to publish a 600-page physical copy of Bloody Sweet, one of their most popular titles on the site.[3] Initially only asking for $10,000, the campaign was successful and ended with more than $20,000 raised for the release.[4]
