Yo-leven

From HandWiki
Short description: Outcome of rolling an 11 in craps
A roll of Yo-leven

Yo-leven (commonly referred to as Yo) is the outcome of rolling an 11 in the game of craps. The term yo was coined to prevent confusion with seven, which has a similar sound.[1][2]

The term can also be heard at poker tables, referring to a bet of 11.[3]

Probability

Rolling two 6-sided dice 25 times gives a probability of 0.760442 that at least once, Yo will appear. There is a 36:2 or 18:1 chance an 11 will appear. The 0% house edge payout would be 17:1, but the house only pays 15:1, giving an 11.11% house edge.[4]

[math]\displaystyle{ {1-} \left ( \dfrac{34}{36} \right ) ^{25} \approx 0.760442 }[/math]

Betting

When the player throws in money and calls out "yo" or "yo-leven", the dealer will usually 'book' the bet as a bet on the 11, so as to not create confusion.
