Aspergillus megasporus is a species of fungus in the genus Aspergillus. It is from the Aspergillus section.[1] The species was first described in 2017.[1] It has been reported to produce asperflavin, auroglaucin, bisanthrons, dihydroauroglaucin, echinulin, emodin, erythroglaucin, flavoglaucin, isoechinulins, neoechinulins, preechinulin, physcion, quinolactacin (A1, A2, B), tetracyclic, and tetrahydroauroglaucin.[1]

Growth and morphology

Aspergillus megasporus has been cultivated on both yeast extract sucrose agar (YES) plates and Malt Extract Agar Oxoid® (MEAOX) plates. The growth morphology of the colonies can be seen in the pictures below.
