The snubnose eelpout (Pachycara bulbiceps) is a species of fish in the family Zoarcidae (eelpouts).[3][4]

Description

The snubnose eelpout is dark brown in colour and up to 51.5 cm (1.69 ft) in length, with 112–119 vertebrae.[5] It has a bulb-shaped head, as indicated by the specific name bulbiceps.[6] It has no pelvic fins.[7]

Habitat

The snubnose eelpout lives in the North Atlantic Ocean and off the east coast of the North Pacific Ocean.[8][9] It is bathydemersal and abyssobenthic, living at depths of 2,400–4,780 m (7,870–15,680 ft).[10][11]
