Laya's Horizon is an action-adventure game developed by Snowman. It was released for Netflix subscribers on iOS and Android on May 2, 2023.
Gameplay
As Laya, the player uses a wingsuit to glide down a mountainous island. Performing flight tricks replenishes the boost energy. There are flight "goals" to complete and quest characters to find, which unlock different wingsuit "capes" and trinket "charms" with additional abilities. The game's touchscreen controls use a finger on either side of the screen, allowing sliding up and down to lift or drop each side of the wingsuit cape to control flight.
Development and release
The game was developed by Canadian studio Snowman for Netflix. Snowman released a teaser trailer on March 9, 2023.[1] It was released on May 2.[2]
Reception
Polygon commended it as a "chill-out game".[3] Pocket Gamer said it captured the "grace and excitement of flying", while requiring patience the player.[4] TouchArcade praised the design of the flying mechanic.[5] IGN India praised it as an "addictive and calming flight adventure".[6]
Accolades
Pocket Gamer nominated it for Best Mobile Platforming Game and Best Netflix Games Game.[7]
