Aploactisoma milesii, the Southern velvetfish, is a species of velvetfish native to the waters around southern and western Australia where it occurs at depths of from 0 to 6 metres (0 to 20 ft). This species grows to a length of 23 centimetres (9.1 in) TL. This species is the only known member of its genus. It is a small velvetfish with a long slender body, a long-based dorsal fin, high at the front and extending from above the eyes to the base of the tail. Brownish to purple in colour with blackish spots and white marbling.[1]
