It is endemic to central Argentina and known from the Pampa de Achala and Sierra de Comechingones, Córdoba Province.[1][2] Its natural habitats are montane grasslands and rocky outcrops therein. Breeding takes place in permanent streams. This rare species is threatened by habitat fragmentation and possibly fires.[1]
