A/Prof. Dr. Fatemeh Heidary is an internationally recognized multipotential healthcare leader, comprehensive clinical ophthalmologist, physician-scientist, and public health scholar with over 25 years of experience spanning clinical medicine, healthcare management, education, and health policy. Trained at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences (one of the leading universities in the Middle East), with fellowship training at Westmead Children’s Hospital in New South Wales, Australia

She has held senior leadership positions, including two organizations in the United States and Canada (IVORC Academic Foundation and the Society of Eye Journal Editors [SEJE]), Head of an Ophthalmology Division in a teaching hospital, Medical Director of a high-volume eye care clinic, and Founder and Chief Editor of internationally indexed scholarly journals.

An expert in integrated care, Dr. Heidary is a pioneer in contemporary healthcare delivery, with particular interests in Hospital in the Home (HITH), telehealth, AI, Digital Twins, and digital health systems. She is also the inventor of the “Beyond Bed Eye Hospital (BBEH)” model, reflected in a provisional patent registered with IP Australia, along with several established models for home monitoring of eye pressure and COVO-CHAT, an innovative telemedicine tool developed to combat the infodemic along with over 9 registered patents.

Throughout her career, Dr. Heidary has led complex healthcare operations and spearheaded quality improvement initiatives, with a strong commitment to health equity, poverty reduction, and patient-centered care for underserved communities. She has worked for several years in underserved and low-resource regions. She has published extensively in internationally respected journals, including PLOS ONE, promoting global scientific collaboration and research capacity building with over 90 peer reviewed articles mostly as the main or corresponding author.

She was named in the prestigious Stanford–Elsevier list of the world’s top 2% scientists, 2022. Her globally recognized research represents a major milestone for women in the international medical community. Throughout her career, she has taught and mentored hundreds of students and clinician-scientists.

Dr. Heidary holds the exceptional triple degrees of MD, MPH, and PhD, and has received several international fellowships and awards, achieved despite significant regional restrictions.
