Dorippoidea is a superfamily of crabs.[1] The earliest fossils attributable to the Dorippoidea date from the Late Cretaceous.[2]
There are two known species of Dorippids, Dorippe quadridens and Dorippoides facchino. They are found in the shallow sand and mud substrate in coastal waters. Though common, they don't contribute any economic value and are often discarded as bycatch. [3]
