Families

Hegetotheria is a suborder of the extinct mammalian order Notoungulata and includes two families, Archaeohyracidae and Hegetotheriidae. Cifelli (1993) indicated that the suborder Typotheria would be paraphyletic if it excluded members of Hegetotheria and he advocated inclusion of the hegetothere families in Typotheria.
