The Mainland Asian tiger (Panthera tigris tigris) is a term used for the following tiger populations in continental Asia:[1]
- Bengal tiger (P. t. tigris) — inhabits the Indian Subcontinent from the foot of the Himalayas to Cape Comorin[2]
- South China tiger, formerly P. t. amoyensis (Hilzheimer, 1905) — occurs in southern China[3]
- Caspian tiger, formerly P. t. virgata (Illiger, 1815) — inhabited Central Asia[4]
- Siberian tiger, formerly P. t. altaica (Temminck, 1844) — inhabits Siberia[4]
- Indochinese tiger, formerly P. t. corbetti Mazák, 1968 — inhabits Southeast Asia[5]
- Malayan tiger, formerly P. t. jacksoni Luo et al., 2004 — inhabits Peninsular Malaysia[6]
