Neocirrhites armatus, the flame hawkfish, is a species of hawkfish native to tropical reefs of the Pacific Ocean at depths of from 1 to 10 metres (3.3 to 32.8 ft). This fish reaches a length of 9 centimetres (3.5 in) TL. This species is also found in the aquarium trade. It is the only known member of its genus.[1]

It is bright red with black dorsal markings. Like most hawkfishes, the flame hawkfish lacks a swim bladder. It is a percher and a bottom-dweller, living on and about coral heads and stony reefs.
