Petralcinae is a subfamily of extinct loons from Lower Miocene strata of Austria.[1] The only genus in the subfamily is Petralca.[2] Originally thought to be the oldest representative of auk in Europe, it was reinterpreted as a member of Gaviiformes in 2017.[3]
