Rineloricaria melini[1] is a species of catfish in the family Loricariidae. It is native to South America, where it occurs in the Amazon River basin in Brazil . The species reaches 13 cm (5.1 inches) in standard length and the maximum length can reaches 18–20 cm and is believed to be a facultative air-breather.[2]

Rineloricaria melini appears in the aquarium trade, where it is typically referred to as the dappled whiptail catfish.[3]
