The spongomonads are a group of flagellated protists in the phylum Cercozoa. Taxonomically, they compose the family Sarcomonadidae and order Sarcomonadida. They were originally placed among the Reticulofilosa,[1] but were later transferred to Monadofilosa.[2] It includes only two genera:[3]
- Spongomonas Stein 1878
- Rhipidodendron Stein 1878
