To commemorate AIR MAX DAY 2022, NIKE revealed a captivating naked-eye 3D advertisement in Shinjuku, Tokyo. The NIKE AIR MAX DAY 2023 event, "MAX to the Extreme," took place in Hangzhou, China. The event was held at 386 Wensan Road in the West Lake District, where a gigantic 3D LED wall spanning nearly one thousand square meters was on display. The wall featured a perfect L shape with smooth corners, and its 4K high-definition visual effect showcased a stunning naked-eye 3D effect for audiences.
This 3D large screen has already become a symbol of the intersection of technology, culture, and tourism in the West Lake District, serving as an impressive showcase for visitors.
How Nike 3D Billboard Japan Works?
The creation of the Nike naked-eye 3D advertisement involved a collaboration between Nike Tokyo's internal brand creative studio and the creative group CEKAI. It took approximately two months to create, program, and test the animation for this 3D Out-of-Home (OOH) advertisement.
The outdoor campaign incorporates graphic cues, 4K screens, and 3D technology. In the 30-second advertisement, the oversized Air Max shoe bursts through the screen and jumps out, creating a visually captivating effect that catches the attention of passersby and encourages them to capture photos.
The development of this Nike naked-eye 3D advertisement required the collaborative efforts of designers, creative coders, and brand marketers over a two-month period. It garnered millions of views worldwide and generated significant buzz for the 2022 AIR MAX DAY campaign.
To achieve the depth perception of the object, designers utilized the technique of displaying two different-angle images on the screen and blending them into a single shot. Consequently, they also needed to possess skills in "3D + motion + physical imaging" to bring the concept to life.
