Octobot is a proof of concept for the first fully soft-bodied autonomous robot.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] The robot is shaped like a small octopus, which explains its name. It uses hydrogen peroxide as a power source and has a microfluidic logic circuit, and it is said to move on its own, without any aid by electricity or battery.[10] The liquid fuel flows around a network of pre-printed hollows within its body, and this triggers a reaction as it passes over platinum embedded inside. This phenomenon produces gas that inflates and moves the arms, to propel the robot through water.[10]
It was designed in 2016 by researchers at Harvard University.[11]
