The Sungri-58KA is a medium-duty truck (Class 5) produced at the Sungri Motor Plant from 1979, as a replacement for the Sungri-58 trucks, however, the truck was nothing more than a Sungri-58 with a new and re-styled cab, as it shared the same engine and chassis as its predecessor.[2]

A more off-road capable version called the Sungri-61NA also started getting produced, as a replacement for the Sungri-61 trucks, but like its 58KA variant, the 61NA uses the same chassis and engine as the Sungri-61, but with an updated and modernized look.

The Sungri-61NA truck has been confirmed to still be in production at the plant,[2] but nothing is known about the 58KA trucks. In 2015 the plant started producing the Sungri 5-Ton trucks, as a replacement for the Sungri-58KA trucks.

The Sungri-58KA trucks were only exported to Zimbabwe and in Namibia for use by the country's notorious Fifth brigade, however, apparently they did not stand up to African conditions, and were scrapped in the following years, or sent back to North Korea.
