Indications

  1. Respiratory diseases (Sinapism, Terebenthine, Menthol)
  2. Angina pectoris (Sinapism, Menthol)
  3. Neuralgia (Sinapism, Terebenthine, Menthol)
  4. Myalgia (Sinapism, Terebenthine, Menthol)
  5. Arthralgia (Terebenthine, Menthol)
  6. Migraine (Menthol pencil, friction in temporal area)
  7. Inhale in lipothymia or ebriety (Ammonia)
  8. Antiseptic (Ammonia)

Mechanism of action

  • Revulsive action – in CNS interfere 2 flows of excitation: from affected viscera and from the surface of the skin; and visceral afferences decrease in intensity.
  • Amelioration of trophic status – due to cutaneo-visceral reflexes and histamine release the skin becomes hyperemic (reflectory dilation of arterioles and capillaries due to axon reflexes) and edematous (vasodilation and increase of permeability due to histamine release).
