Tesla, Inc. operates plants worldwide for the manufacture of their products, including electric vehicles,[1] lithium-ion batteries, solar shingles, chargers, automobile parts, and manufacturing equipment and tools for its own factories. The following is a list of current and former facilities.[2]

2010–2016 650[62] P[63] Initial Model S cars built at the facility in 2010.[61] From 2010 to 2016 the facility supplied all-electric power train solutions to Tesla vehicles and other automakers.[62] The location served as Tesla headquarters from 2010 until HQ was moved to Austin, Texas in 2021.[64] Location remains active for other uses.

Note: Maxwell Technologies was acquired by Tesla in 2019 for their battery technology.[65] Maxwell continued to operate as subsidiary until 2021.[66] Due to the short holding time and no known products produced under Tesla, their production facilities are not listed above.

Notes

  1. The eleventh character of the vehicle identification number (VIN) indicates the factory the car has been built in. "R" in the eleventh character of the VIN denotes a "Research" vehicle with no specific factory.[3]
