Glory of Fellowland (GoF) is a warfare browser-based massively online game (MMOG) under the genre of strategy and fantasy game produced at Feeltainment Ltd. and was released in 2008. Its setting is in the period of Medieval Ages. The game is in eight languages.[1] There are five races which are the human, dwarf, orc, elf and hobbit.

Gameplay

It is similar to games like Tribal Wars of InnoGames GmbH and Land of Destiny.[2] The objective of the game is to have a powerful empire out of small villages either by the player or with the help of allies. The game needed balancing peace and war.[3] The player can build new buildings, gain resources and develop sciences. As the game progresses, new skills, like spying or trading, can be made by the player.[4] The game will continue even if the player logs out. In starting the gameplay, player will choose location and race, according to his type of play or strategy, which can be developed by constructing different buildings, completing units and developing science.[5] During the latter part, players will be able to train units for defenses and offenses, and conjure magic for support.[5] When the village is expanding and advancing to become an empire, the player may send messages to other players, to build peace agreements and to trade. If it is fully established, the player can spy and capture other villages.[5]

Requirements

The game requires a monitor with a width of 1024 pixels and a browser of Internet Explorer 7 for it to work properly.[5]

Races

Each races have their specialization. Humans are the best for new players as it could be an all-around player. Hobbits are usually for defensive players. Orcs needed “Great Wisdom” and for offensive player.. Dwarves have “dwarf wisdom” and Elves are best for magic and spells.[6]

Alliances and Guild

As this game has a peace agreement with the other players, alliances and guilds is possible as it will help the player’s village to other quest.[4]

Resources and Commerce

The different resources are produced and used to buildings, units, spells and battles. The resources are iron, wood, stone, culture, science, spirit, gold, honor, diamonds, amulets and food. Iron is needed for military units and it can be found at mountain terrain. Wood is for construction and the vast amount can be found at forests. Stone is used for bigger buildings like tower and castle. Culture is for special units. Science is needed for researching new discoveries and in advancing. Spirit is for spells. The most commonly used is gold specially on trading. Honor is attainable during battles wherein the player might gain or lose it. Diamond is used to increase culture production while amulet is for spirit production. Food is needed and the player must have grain field, rice field and potato field. It is usually recommended for new players to have their village at the plain. The village’s population can be counted through the established buildings and units. These population consumes food. Tax rate is also used to maintain the culture production and food consumption. The production of the resources will be based on the location of the village.[7]
