HyperOS (Chinese: 澎湃OS; pinyin: Pēngbài OS), officially named Xiaomi HyperOS (Chinese: 小米澎湃OS; pinyin: Xiǎomǐ pēngbài OS), is an operating system developed by Xiaomi based of Android and it's self-developed Vela system for its smartphones and other IoT devices. It is replacing MIUI gradually in 2024.[1][2]

History

Xiaomi HyperOS is an enhanced and renamed version of the MIUI Android interface used on Xiaomi devices for 13 years. On October 17, 2023, the new Android interface was announced on X.[3]

When MIUI codes are analyzed, HyperOS V1 is developed as MIUI 15. The leaked MIUI 15 Internal Alpha version 23.9.28 does not contain any code for HyperOS.[4] In the leaked version 23.9.28, the system appears as MIUI 15. This new version was also mentioned as MIUI 15 in Xiaomi's Redmi K60 Ultra event. HyperOS V1 version is thought to have started to be converted from MIUI 15 in October 2023.

HyperOS V1 will be distributed in 2 versions, based on Android 13 and Android 14.

Some source says reserch and validation of HyperOS started in 2014 and started development in 2017.[5]

In 2023, HyperOS has finished development and will be launched alongside Xiaomi 14 Series.

Features

Only some minor visual changes were made during the conversion from MIUI 14 to HyperOS.[6]
