iScanner is a document scanning and management application for mobile devices and the web. Developed by BP Mobile LLC (AIBY Group) in the United States, the software allows users to digitize paper documents, edit and organize files, and convert scans into searchable and editable formats using optical character recognition (OCR).[1][2] The application is distributed under a freemium model, with a free version and a paid subscription offering access to advanced AI-based features.​​[3][4]

History

iScanner was first released for iOS in 2015, followed by an Android version in 2016.[5] The application expanded its feature set during the late 2010s as mobile document scanning became more widely adopted for remote work and small business use. In 2021, iScanner introduced an object-counting feature using the device camera, enabling automated counting of similar items.[6]

In 2022, the app launched an AI-based document dewarping algorithm, branded as Straightener, designed to correct perspective distortion in scanned documents. Later, iScanner added computer vision and artificial intelligence algorithms for document processing, including automated edge repair for damaged pages, background cleanup, and blur reduction.[7]

Between 2023 and 2025, the application added features including ID document collages, AI-assisted document querying, eco-impact tracking tools, online file conversion utilities, and additional document repair and filtering functions aimed at small business workflows.[8] In 2023, the developers launched a dedicated program for students, offering extended access to the application's premium features for users with verified educational email addresses.[2] In 2025, iScanner reportedly reached 125 million downloads worldwide.[1][9]

Features

The application supports document scanning, editing, storage, and sharing.
