MQL5 Community, also known as MQL5.community, is a resource launched by MetaQuotes in 2010 for traders and developers involved in algorithmic trading.[1] The site provides access to a number of services used in conjunction with the MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 trading platforms. Among them is the store of ready-made applications for the platforms, for example, signals used for copy trading[2]. MQL5.community also offers quotes containing data on futures, financial and stock markets, as well as tools for monitoring exchanges and liquidity providers.

History

In June 2011, MetaQuotes launched an MQL5.community-based competition of fully-automated trading robots[3] developed with MQL5 programming language with a prize pool of $80,000 called Automated Trading Championship.[4]

MQL5.community presented a copy trading option through signal providers for MetaTrader 5[5] in October 2012. Later, at the end of the month Trading Signals became available also for MetaTrader 4 users.[6]

In January 2013, users of the MetaTrader 5 for iPhones has been introduced to the secure chat function using the MQL5.community's MetaQuotes ID accounts.[7]

At the end of September 2015, the new MetaTrader 4 version was released with access to the MT4 account via browser and WebTerminal section on MQL5.community website. Thus, the MetaTrader 4 trading platform has become available for MacOS users.[8] The beta version of the MetaTrader 5 Web includes hedging features that previously appeared in the desktop version, support for 30 technical indicators & 24 analytical objects plus a set of trading orders. The web client is translated into 41 languages.[9]

In March 2017, MetaQuotes absorbed the Forex-TSD developer forum with 270,000 monthly visitors and moved it to MQL5.community, retaining user accounts.[10]

In May 2017, MQL5.community introduced the economic calendar, a market analysis tool that allows tracking of macroeconomic events and collecting data in real-time from public sources.[11]

At the end of July 2020, MetaQuotes added trading data widgets and share charts to the MQL5.community functionality.[1]

In June 2021, MQL5 Channels mobile messenger was released in the App Store, providing traders and MQL5.community members with secure data exchange, group chats, and video and document sharing via phones, tablets, and PCs.[12]

Market

MetaTrader 5 users can develop their own customized solution in MQL5 or purchase a ready-made expert advisor on the MQL5.community marketplace.[13]

Indicators

In the technical indicators section, there are free download products like VWAP Indicator[14] which shows the average price paid for an asset while weighted by volume. Indicators are easy to connect to the trading platform, after which the user specifies the starting point for calculations.[15]

Signals

Traders can automatically copy trading signals from providers to their accounts via the MetaTrader terminal and MQL5.community account. After synchronization of the accounts, the trader receives data on all trading operations of the signal provider.[6]

Economic calendar

The economic calendar is used to analyze market data, such as the time trajectory of the PMI manufacturing index for Europe as part of the Covid-19 pandemic economic impact study.[16]

Articles

In the articles section, there are publications by community members on the application of mathematical algorithms in trading, such as the Box-Cox transform used to stabilize data variance.[17]

Chats

Traders can correspond directly with each other from the trading platform via the chat built into MetaTrader. This is done via MQL5.community account by opening the chat window in the 'Tools' menu.[18]
